(Feb. 16, 2018) Men and women 21 and older can compete in the inaugural Ocean City Arm Wrestling Championships, this Saturday at OC360 Eats and Drinks, inside the Fenwick Inn on 138th Street.

“I wanted to do something different this offseason and I am a huge advocate for rescue dogs,” event organizer Colin Grink said. “Come out and see what you’ve got against other people. It’s a chance to experience something unique and has never been done before.”

Registration cost is $10 and begins at 6 p.m. with the event starting an hour later. All proceeds benefit the Worcester County Humane Society.

“There is no cost for spectators, but we ask for donations to the Worcester County Humane Society,” Grink said. “I would be grateful to raise $500 in our first year with the amount continuing to grow every time we do it.”

Each of the three divisions is open to 12 contenders: men more than 225 pounds, men less than 225 pounds, and women. Participants are required to sign a waiver. About 15 people had signed up as of Tuesday afternoon.

“Some people are coming in from Baltimore, but the event will have mostly locals,” Grink said.

“A custom-sized arm wrestling table is being made. Hopefully this event continues to grow each year.”

The winner of each division will take home a $50 gift card and get their picture framed on the “Wall of Fame.”

Other prizes will be given out throughout the evening, and DJ Chuck D will be spinning the tunes.

“This event is something completely out-of-the-box,” Grink said.
