The driver of the Maxima, Stephen Parberry, was charged with multiple offenses, including DUI and DWI.

(Aug. 11, 2017) Ocean City police arrested Stephen Parberry, 47, of Selbyville last Tuesday on nine charges following a noontime crash on Coastal Highway.

According to officers on the scene, Parberry attempted to change lanes from the bus/bike lane on northbound Coastal Highway to the easternmost travel lane at 67th Street, clipped a passing vehicle and then forced his Nissan Maxima back into two bicyclists, who were stopped at the signal.

The bicyclists were taken to Atlantic General Hospital with minor injuries.

According to Lindsay Richard, Ocean City Police Department public information officer, Parberry failed to complete a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested.

According to public records, Parberry was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, attempting to drive while impaired, driving while intoxicated by a controlled dangerous substance, failure to obey traffic control devices, unsafe lane change, failure to control speed, negligent driving, reckless driving and failure to obey lane directions.

Parberry posted a $3,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Ocean City District Court on Oct. 2.
