(May 11, 2018) The Stephen Decatur girls’ lacrosse team received the No. 3 seed in Section II of the 3A East Region and will travel to Salisbury, today, Friday, to play the second-seeded James M. Bennett Clippers.

When the two teams went head-to-head on May 2 in Berlin, Bennett edged out Decatur, 7-6. Both teams earned first-round byes and will face each other again at 3:15 p.m. today.

“I think over the past week we’ve made a lot of adjustments that are going to help us in this rematch,” Decatur Coach Sara Braniecki said. “We’ve changed some things and really sorted some things out that should help out.”

Decatur finished the regular season with a 6-6 record.

“This group of girls is really cool, because they’re such hard workers and very coachable,” Braniecki said. “I think if we win draw controls, we can control the tempo of the game and come up with a big win.”

The winner will take on either the No. 1 Chesapeake Cougars of Anne Arundel or the No. 4 Northeast Eagles of Anne Arundel, on Monday.
